In the beginning of December in Valmiera the popular athletes, popular sports event in Valmiera of year was awarded and the popular kind of sport in Valmiera was announced.

Last week at Valmiera and Koceni took place the European Floorball cup championship, where men and women teams from eight different countries were fighting for the first place.

The Swedish “Storvreta” got the European cup

The Euro cup championship has ended today with a victory of the Swedish men team “Storvreta”. In the game for the Gold medal, the Swedes met the Czech team – “1.SC WOOW Vitkovice”, and won with a score of 6:3.

Today, at the Euro cup championship in Valmiera, “IKSU” floorballers have won for the fourth time. In a tight game against the Swiss “Piranha Chur”, the Swedish girls have won with 5:4.

“SSV” easily defeats “Tunet IBK” and gets the Bronze

At the Euro cup championships’ final game for the bronze today in Valmiera, the Finnish champions “SSV” with no stress defeated the Norwegian “Tunet IBK” with a score of 11:3.

Today at Valmiera took place the Euro cup championship finals’ game one, that defined which of the teams – the Swiss “Red Ants Rychenberg” or the Finnish “SC Classic” will get the third place. The result of the game was 4:3 for “Red Ants Rychenberg”.

Latvian champions “RTU/Inspecta” defeated “Team Arhus Floorball” from Denmark at the men A group final of the Euro cup championship today with a score of 12:3.

The “1.SC WOOW Vitkovice” victory in the Euro cup championship has became the main sensation for today so far. The Czech overcame “Storvreta IBK”, which had been the main tournaments’ favorite in the B subcategory match with 7:6.

“RTU/Inspecta” loses to “Zorro Tunet IKB”

In their second game of the Euro cup championship “RTU/Inspecta” has lost gain. Although Latvian floorballers were playing perseveringly, nevertheless, they had to face defeat from the Norway club “Tunet IKB” with 4:8.

The IFF presidents’ Tomas Erikssons’ arrival

Last night the International Floorball Federation (IFF) president Tomas Eriksson has arrived to Latvia, to observe in presence what is being done by the Latvian Floorball union (LFU) for the Euro cup championships’ arrangement. Eriksson is also planning to meet the LFU president Ilvis Petersons in person, and talk over what has been accomplished.

Both of the Latvian teams began the Eurocup championship with a defeat. While “Rubene” was forced to except the Swedish IKSU superiority (0:7), the men of “RTU/Inspecta” with 2:10 lost to the Finnish “SSV”, which coach is Kristian Bjorksten, who is also coaching the Latvian national team.

Today, at the Vidzemes Olympic centre, the final tournament between men teams for European floorball championship cup has begun. The games have resulted with a victory of norwegian, czech and swedish teams.

Both of the swiss teams have begun the Eurocup championship successfuly. While the “Red Ants Rychenberg” easily defeated the Frederikshavnas “Bulldogs ” from Denmark (8:2), it was a little more dificult for “Piranha”, which has outdone the Czech “Herbadent SJM” with a score of only 4:2.
